KARACHI: In the wake of Aasma Rani murder and 4-year-old Asma rape and murder cases, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s estranged member Ayesha Gulalai on Friday criticised the police force of Sindh and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) for failing to protect the citizens.
Talking about Kohat murder of a medical student, Aasma Rani, Gulalai said that the slain had made multiple failed visits to the police station for registration of an FIR against the accused, Mujahidullah Afridi, before she was eventually murdered.
“Asma Rani’s family went to the police multiple times and asked for an FIR to be registered against the accused. The police did not register the FIR and eventually she was killed,” Gulalai said.
She further added that the culprits in Asma rape and murder and Naqeebullah Mehsud’s alleged encounter cases have also not been arrested, which shows the negligence of KP and Sindh police.
The disgruntled PTI leader also took jibes at party chairman Imran Khan and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari calling them ‘thieves’. “Zardari is the thief in Sindh, similarly, Imran Khan is the thief in KP,” she said.
Gulalai also demanded cases of Naqeebullah, Asma, Aasma Rani and Mashal Khan to be referred to military courts as ‘the common man does not get justice through the current system.’
