ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) will resume on Thursday the hearing of former premier Nawaz Sharif and family’s petitions, one is against the Avenfield conviction and another petition is a to shift the remaining references (Al Azizia and Flagship) to another court.
A two-member bench comprised of Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb will hear the petition today, which is expected to start in a while.
During the last session, Nawaz’s counsel Khawaja Haris had appealed to transfer the remaining cases of Sharif family, which include Al Azizia and Flagship references, to another court.
The defence counsel argued that the Accountability Court-I Judge Muhammad Bashir had already shown his opinion by giving Avenfield verdict.
Moreover, Haris added, the investigation officers in all three cases are different however the witnesses and their defence is common.
After hearing Nawaz’s plea for transfer of remaining references, the court will hear the petition against Avenfield verdict.
