Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday said that the government is confronted with a mafia which is obstructing and impeding it, not letting it perform properly for the betterment of the people.
The prime minister was talking to ticket holders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) from Gujranwala, who called on him at the PM Office. Overall situation of the country and people’s problems and their development requirements came under discussion during the meeting.
The prime minister said the people, fed up with the corrupt mafia, now consider PTI as their saviour. He said the PTI came into power in a difficult situation and it is presently confronted with the corrupt mafia and the inflation. He said that despite difficult situation, the government is trying its best to provide relief to the people. He hoped that the people will get sufficient relief owing to government’s efforts and various steps taken in this regard.
Separately, Prime Minister Imran Khan said with start-ups playing a key role in economic growth and financial inclusion, the government will facilitate talented entrepreneurs in transforming their innovative ideas into sustainable businesses.
Addressing at a demonstration ceremony of National Incubation Centre Start-ups at PM House, the prime minister said the objective of start-ups is to encourage people who want to achieve and make progress in life. He said vibrant societies always encourage its youth to propel, adding that only a government making headway can dare to promote new ideas. He said the fear of failure prevents the people from taking big steps and thus undermines their true potential. He said behind a successful person, there is always an undeterred struggle based on concentration, firm determination, ability to overcome challenges and also to rise from ashes.
Imran Khan lauded the initiative to back start-ups, which he said shows that Pakistan is heading in the right direction as only open minds breeds new concepts. He said Pakistan has immense resources with gold, copper and coal reserves. He termed youth as the most valuable resource being the second youngest population in the world. “We only have to fully tap the potential of the youth and give them right direction,” he said, adding that the results can be encouraging in terms of national progress and prosperity. He expressed confidence that Pakistan will lead the entire region provided it ensures a platform for its people, particularly youth to explore their potential.
The prime minister said to encourage entrepreneurs, an arrangement of close coordination among information technology ministry, State Bank of Pakistan, e-commerce and Federal Bureau of Revenue will be made.
In a separate meeting with CEO Pepsi Africa, Middle East and South Asia Eugene Willemsen, the prime minister said the government’s investment-friendly policies are creating immense opportunities for foreign investors to explore diverse sectors. He lauded the business ventures of Pepsico as well as its proposed future investment plans for Pakistan.
Eugene Willemsen apprised the Prime Minister of Pepscico’s existing investment portfolio in Pakistan which employs around 60,000 individuals directly as well as indirectly, and a network of approximately 700,000 retailers across the country who rely on Pepsico products to make a living. news desk
